How accurate is the FMCSA–EPA carrier matching? ▾
Our matching algorithm uses phone number matching (0.95 confidence weight), name similarity via PostgreSQL trigram functions, state validation, and address proximity scoring. It achieves 95%+ accuracy for HIGH-quality matches (same state + name similarity ≥ 60%). EPA Form 8700-12 (the Site Identification Form) is the registration form that grants a carrier their EPA Site ID (also called a Generator ID or Handler ID). Without it, a hazmat carrier cannot legally transport hazardous waste under federal RCRA rules — no matter how many DOT certifications they hold. What's the difference between EPA generators, transporters, and TSDFs? ▾
EPA categorizes hazardous waste handlers by their primary activity:
- Generators (LQG / SQG / VSQG) — Companies that produce hazardous waste. Large Quantity Generators face the strictest rules.
- Transporters — Companies authorized to haul hazardous waste between facilities. This is where most FMCSA hazmat carriers fall.

Delta tracking monitors your target carriers or facilities for changes — new compliance flags, EPA registration status changes, operating authority updates, or new crash/inspection records.
